IDF withdraws the Golani Brigade from Gaza after suffering heavy. Golani Brigade is considered the best brigade, it fought in all of Israel's wars and almost all of its major operations including Cast Lead. Interestingly this came when it was engaged is the most intense and critical battle on the front lines especially in the Shuja’iya neighbourhood.

Just Last Week, IDF announced the death of two Senior officers from the Golani Brigade after a failed attempt to rescue injured troops in the Shejaiya area.

One of them was media-savvy Lt. Col. Tomer Grinberg, the commander of the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion. The other was company commander Maj. Roei Meldasi Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion.

Al-Qassam killed 10 including 2 senior commanders in a single attack.

The 13 battalion of Golani Brigade also suffered the highest number of losses even on the 7th of October. According to IDF, at least 72 Golani soldiers were killed majority belonging to 13 batallion of the Golani Brigade. After this heavy loss last week where 10 were killed On the very next day IDF's Golani Brigade 12 battalion commander Lt. Col. Shahar Barkai got injured. Interestingly, Lt Col. Barkai himself was replacement commander for Lt. Col. Omer Suleiman Golani’s 12th Battalion, who got wounded at the start of the war Just a couple of weeks ago, It was the same "Golani" Brigade which was posing in the parliament of Palestine in the Gaza Strip. This withdrawal especially after clashes in Shuja’iya is a serious blow to IDF tactical operational capabilities in Gaza, especially when the Golani brigade was leading the offensive operations.

Failed rescue operations, heavy casualties and the killing of senior commanders will hurt the overall morale of the IDF.

IDF has likely withdrawn to revamp & reorganize brigade especially the 12th and 13 battalions whose even replacement commanders have been killed along with company commanders. Tactically, it major victory for resistance as now Resistance can commit fighters to other areas.
