Iran shaken by twin blasts, 188 dead and 170 wounded



Tehran: The number of people killed in 2 explosions on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of former Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in Kerman region of Iran has reached 188 while more than 170 have been injured.

According to Iranian media, the fourth anniversary of General Qasim Sulaiman was being celebrated in this regard, a ceremony was held in Kerman city in which 75 people died and dozens were injured in 2 explosions.

Iranian media say that the explosions occurred near the shrine of General Qassem Soleimani. A large number of people were present at the time of the explosion.

It should be noted that a ceremony was held in Kerman city on Wednesday in memory of former Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani who was killed in an American drone attack in 2020.

After the blasts, rescue teams and heavy contingents of forces reached the area and carried out relief operations. Iranian media have claimed that the first explosion occurred in a cylinder, while the second is under investigation. After the explosions, security has been tightened across the city.

According to Iranian media, explosions occurred in gas cylinders placed on the road leading to the tomb. After the blasts, security was put on high alert across the city.

Thousands of people were present in the cemetery on the occasion of the anniversary of Qassem Soleimani. According to Governor Kerman, these explosions are terrorist incidents, the explosions were caused by the explosion of hand grenades.

According to Iranian media, the security authorities are investigating the situation. The Iranian Disaster Management Authority says that 5 hospitals have been put on high alert for immediate medical assistance to the injured.
